About Us

K.B. Johnson Oil & Gas Company was founded in 1921 as K.B. Johnson & Sons. Mr. Kemp B. Johnson entered the petroleum business primarily as a gasoline distributor serving rural farming communities throughout central North Carolina. As the years progressed, Mr. Kemp Johnson’s oldest son, Harold W. Johnson Sr., then his grandson Mr. Harold W. Johnson Jr led the company. Currently Harold Jr. and sons Harold III (Hal) and Kemp Johnson, along with their dedicated group of employees are serving residential, commercial, and agricultural customers in portions of a four county area in central North Carolina. 

K.B. Johnson serves our customers by selling propane gas and related services, bulk petroleum (gasoline, fuel oil, diesel, kerosene and aviation fuel), along with a complete service and sales department. Our sales department specializes in propane and natural gas appliances such as gas fireplaces, tank-less water heaters, space heaters and a complete line of gas grills and outdoor kitchens. We install and service all items that we sell and offer a factory-trained service staff. We recently opened a beautiful gas fireplace showroom where all vent free and direct-vent fireplaces are hooked up and burning for your comparison. 

We offer automatic delivery service to all of our propane customers who qualify and guarantee prompt response 24 hours a day 7 days a week if they ever run out of propane. We offer 24-hour emergency service for gas leaks or other situations and also offer 24/7 delivery for a nominal fee to our propane customers who choose the “will call” delivery option.

Helping customers deal with their energy expenses is a priority with us so we offer several programs to help manage this. Our “Budget” program creates 12 equal payments in order to spread out the energy expenses throughout the year. We offer a “Pre-Buy” and “Fixed” price program for propane customers who choose to participate. This enables our customers to control their price per gallon and prevent “surprises” that may occur with volatile energy prices.
