Why is propane so popular?
Because it is a clean, energy-efficient, versatile fuel solution.
In fact, it is hard to name another fuel that has as many uses as propane. You can use it to heat your water, cook your food, dry your clothes or power your backup generator. Out in the backyard, propane fuels your barbecue grill, heats your patio, warms your pool and puts the flame in your fire pit.
Most people don’t know that propane packs a real power punch; Propane is sold and delivered in gallons but can easily be converted into cubic feet, which is how natural gas is measured. Provided that 1 cubic foot of propane contains 2,516 BTUs and 1 cubic foot of natural gas contains 1,030 BTUs, it is accurate to say that propane contains more than twice the usable energy content per cubic foot, which is usually more cost-effective.
If you are concerned about the environment, you’ll be glad to know that propane is nontoxic or damaging and will not harm the environment if it is released into the atmosphere, which is not true for natural gas. With much of the world trying to go green and contribute to the environment in a positive way, many consumers are choosing propane over natural gas for just this reason.
