Gas Grill Essential Tools
Get prepared for grilling season
If any of you North Carolina homeowners are planning on spending some time out at your gas grills once grilling season officially starts, take the time now to make sure you are fully prepared.
To properly prepare for and set yourself up for a successful grilling season, a homeowner should check a few items off his or her list. This includes knowing exactly where to place your gas grill in your home’s outdoor area, finding a safe and secure spot to store extra grill tanks, and gathering the tools you will need to do your outdoor cooking and clean your grill.
What tools owners of gas grills need
Here is a list of supplies that owners of gas grills can refer to. The items below will make anyone’s grilling experience easier and will help a homeowner take care of his or her grill.
- Tin foil: Using tin foil while you grill can help prevent food from falling through your grill’s grates. This reduces the time you have to spend cleaning up once you’re done cooking!
- Fuel: This may go without saying, but your grill is going to need to be powered by something. Gas grills require either propane or natural gas. A standard charcoal grill will need charcoal briquettes.
- A fire extinguisher: As a safety precaution, it is best practice to keep a fire extinguisher near grills at all times.
- A meat thermometer: Using a meat thermometer saves you the trouble of having to cut into and eyeball the food that you’re grilling to see if it’s ready.
- Proper lighting: We certainly do not recommend grilling in the dark, so make sure the area where you keep your grill is properly lit. If necessary, use a flashlight or clamp a grill light into the side of your grill.
- Cleaning tools: Keeping gas grills clean is imperative for safety and also helps your food taste better. When it comes time to clean, you should use a grill brush to clean your grill’s grates.
- Cooking tools: In addition to cleaning tools, it’s helpful to have certain cooking tools on hand as well. This includes a basting brush, spatula, and tongs – all of which will help make your grilling easier.
Additional tips for gas grills
Now that we have covered some essential grilling tools, here are some additional suggestions that can help any homeowner have a successful grilling season:
- Keep your grill on level ground at all times
- Your grill should be placed at least six feet away from your home and any other potential sources of ignition
- Turn your grill off before you make any adjustments to your grill tank or need to disconnect an old grill tank to replace it with a new one
- Check your grill’s hoses and connections for leaks before you start to do any grilling
