Grilling Made Easy: A Guide to Propane Grill Tanks
Keep your grill tanks full with help from K.B. Johnson
Our lives are busy and stressful, which means no one needs any added stress or complications from cooking a meal. This is just one of many reasons why you may want to consider adding a propane grill that uses a propane cylinder to your home’s outdoor living space.
The fact of the matter is that using a propane grill outshines most of its competitors in terms of convenience and efficiency. Not to mention that a propane grill is portable, allowing you to easily move it from one area of your outdoor living space to another, and offers both consistent heat and a simple ignition process.
Let’s take a look at how grilling is made easy with a propane cylinder and how K.B. Johnson Oil & Gas makes it easy for you to always have a full grill tank.
How using a grill tank makes grilling easy
To put it simply, a grill tank simplifies the whole grilling process. It doesn’t matter if you’re a seasoned griller or just starting out –a propane grill is user friendly for everyone. Don’t believe us? Just look at some specifics:
- There is a lot of mess that comes along with using a charcoal grill such as ash and soot. The cleanup process can be fairly intense. Propane grills, on the other hand, produce no soot and ash, making the cleanup process much easier and quicker. Additionally, many propane grills are made with easy-to-remove grease trays and most of their surfaces just need to be wiped down quickly after a grill session.
- You get precise temperature control on a propane grill. This helps ensure that your burgers, steak and chicken are cooked all the way through.
- A propane grill tank helps speed up the cooking process. Unlike charcoal grills that require you to wait while they heat up before you start cooking, propane grills are ready to be used almost instantly. This is definitely ideal for those nights when you’re rushing to get dinner on the table.
Replacing a grill tank
Swapping out an old or empty grill tank for one that is new or full is also easy and a simple process. Just follow the below steps:
- Wear some protective gear like gloves and goggles
- Inspect your tank for any damage or leaks
- Make sure your grill is completely turned off and that your tank’s valve is totally shut
- Turn your grill’s pressure regulator to the left and remove it
- If your grill has a restraining bolt, loosen it
- Remove the old propane cylinder from its storage compartment and place your new cylinder in the compartment
- Tighten the restraining bolt (if your grill has one)
- Put the cylinder’s pressure regular on the valve and tighten it
- Test for leaks by spraying the cylinder’s valve and your grill’s regulator with soapy water. Open the valve. If you see bubbles there is either a leak or a loose connection. Re-tighten all your grill’s connections, spray again and re-open the valve. If you see still bubbles replace your grill tank or your grill’s hose.
